Around here

In Lake Sherwood

On a Lake Sherwood property, gas lines run to the guest house, the pool equipment and an outdoor kitchen, so the sizing comes off the whole load at the meter. Each line is black iron with a shutoff at the appliance, pressure tested and permitted through Ventura County. We arrange gate clearance before we come. If you smell gas, leave and call SoCalGas.

Neighborhoods: Sherwood Country Club, the lake, the Hidden Valley edge, the older lakeside streets.

The job

How it goes

Most jobs are new lines to a built-in BBQ or outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, a pool or spa heater, a range, a dryer or a generator. Each is sized by BTU rating and length of run, with a shutoff at the appliance. The inspector signs off the pressure test before the gas goes on.

If you smell gas, leave and call SoCalGas from outside. After they shut it off, we find and fix the leak, retest the system and give you the paperwork they need to relight.

A tankless, a bigger range or a pool heater can outdraw the existing line. We run a larger one from the meter, sized for the whole house, and the gas company sometimes upgrades the meter.

Common questions

Gas lines in Lake Sherwood: things people ask

Do you go through the gate at Sherwood?
Yes. We call ahead with the truck and name so the gate expects us, or your estate manager can set it up with us directly.
How fast can you get to Lake Sherwood?
Often the same day. It's ten minutes over the hill. For planned work on a big house, we walk it first.
Do I need a permit for a gas line?
Yes, for any new line or change. The inspector checks the pressure test first.
Can you run gas to my outdoor kitchen?
Yes. The line is sized for everything out there, buried at code depth, with a shutoff at the island.
How do you test for leaks?
We pressurize the system with air and watch a gauge. If it drops, we find the joint with a detector and soap.
