Around here

In Agoura Hills

Agoura Hills tankless conversions start at the gas meter, because a whole-house unit wants 150,000 BTU or more and the line usually has to be upsized. The venting changes with it. Las Virgenes supplies the water here and it's hard, so the heat exchanger needs a descale once a year. The isolation valves we fit keep that to about half an hour.

Neighborhoods: Old Agoura, Morrison Ranch, Liberty Canyon, Lake Lindero, Chesebro, Fountainwood.

The job

How it goes

A standard tank draws about 40,000 BTU and a whole-house tankless draws 150,000 to 199,000, which the old half-inch line often can't carry. We upsize it from the meter, and sometimes the gas company upgrades the meter. Condensing units vent in PVC with a condensate drain, and non-condensing units need stainless vent.

We size by how many fixtures run at once and the incoming water temperature, around 55 degrees here in winter. Undersizing is the mistake we see most.

Our hard water scales the heat exchanger, so a tankless needs descaling once a year. The isolation valves we fit make that a half-hour job, on our installs or anyone's.

Call if

What you notice,
and what it usually is

01

Your tank is due for replacement

A tankless lasts about twice as long.

02

Hot water runs out with a full house

Sized right, a tankless won't run out.

03

No room in the closet for a bigger tank

A tankless the size of a carry-on hangs on the wall.

04

A long wait for hot water at the far bathroom

A recirculation loop fixes it, with or without a tankless.

05

Your tankless runs weak or lukewarm

Scale. A descale usually brings it back.

Common questions

Tankless in Agoura Hills: things people ask

How fast can you get to Agoura Hills?
Often the same day. It's seven minutes down the 101 from Westlake Village.
Who pulls the permit in Agoura Hills?
We do, through the City of Agoura Hills, for water heaters, gas lines, repipes and remodels. We handle the inspection.
Does the hot water ever run out?
Not within its flow rate. Two showers at once is fine if it's sized right. Four is too much for any unit.
Will it cut my gas bill?
Some, since it heats only what you use. People switch for the space, the longer life and never running out.
Can my existing gas line handle it?
Usually not without changes. We size the line from the meter and tell you what has to change before you commit.
