What this job looks like
in Agoura Hills

On an Old Agoura lot the sewer lateral can run a few hundred feet, and a wet patch in the yard is often nowhere near the fault. The camera and the transmitter on its head put a mark on the surface over the break, with the depth, so a repair is one hole and not a trench across the property. In the tracts it is the ordinary question of roots versus a settled section.

Streets and pockets we work in: Old Agoura, Morrison Ranch, Liberty Canyon, Lake Lindero, Chesebro, Fountainwood.

01

A wet patch out in the yard

Long private laterals

We locate the line and put a camera down before anything gets dug. On a run of a few hundred feet, digging in the wrong place is the difference between an afternoon and two weeks.

02

Everything draining slowly at once

Septic-side drain work

If you are not on a sewer main, everything up to the tank is still plumbing. We can tell you which side of the tank your problem is on.

The job

How it goes

The camera goes in through a cleanout and runs the length of the line to the street. You watch it on the screen with us. It shows roots at a joint, a section that has settled and holds water, a crack, an offset where two pipes no longer meet, and the scale inside old cast iron. A transmitter on the camera head lets us mark the exact spot on the surface, and the depth, so if something has to be dug up the hole goes in the right place the first time.

Three times it is worth doing. When a main line has backed up more than once. Before you buy a house, because a sewer replacement is the biggest surprise a home inspection misses. And before a remodel adds a bathroom to a line that may not be up to it.

The repair depends on what the camera finds. One bad joint is a spot repair, a hole the size of a table. A house with no cleanout gets one, so the next clearing does not go through a toilet. A line that is failing along its length gets replaced. In Thousand Oaks the oak tree ordinance decides where a trench can go, and it is better to know that before the machine is on the lawn.

Call if

What you notice,
and what it usually is

01

The main backs up every few months

Roots or a break the cable keeps opening and the pipe keeps closing.

02

A wet or sunken patch in the lawn

A break underground. We locate it from the surface before digging.

03

Sewer smell in the yard or a bathroom

A cracked line or a dry trap. The camera settles which.

04

You are buying a house built before 1990

The line is thirty to sixty years old. Look before you close.

05

Adding a bathroom

The line has to carry it. A camera and a look at the slope answers that.

How it goes

Four steps, and you have the price at step three

  1. 01

    You call

Danny picks up when he can, and calls back the same day. Tell him what it is doing and where.

  2. 02

    We look

We come out, find the cause and show you. In plain words, with the part in our hand where there is one.

  3. 03

    You get a price

Before anything starts. Repairs are our time plus parts, and the bigger jobs get a written bid. Nobody here is on commission.

  4. 04

    We do the work

Small repairs are usually done the same visit. Bigger jobs get a start date and a number of days, and we hold to it. Done to code, permitted where it needs it, the house left the way we found it.

Common questions

Sewer camera & repair in Agoura Hills: things people ask

How fast can you get to Agoura Hills?
Usually the same day. It is seven minutes down the 101 from Westlake Village. Say what it is doing when you call and Danny will tell you when.
Who pulls the permit in Agoura Hills?
We do, through the City of Agoura Hills, for water heaters, gas lines, repipes and remodel plumbing. The inspection is part of the price.
Do I get the video?
Yes. You watch it with us and we send you the recording. It is useful for a buyer, a seller, an insurer or the next plumber.
What is a cleanout, and why does my house not have one?
A capped pipe outside, usually near the foundation, that gives direct access to the sewer line. Many houses from the sixties and seventies were built without one. Adding one is a half-day job and makes every future clearing quicker and cleaner.
Can the line be fixed without digging up the yard?
Sometimes a single bad section can be repaired through one small hole. A line that has failed along its length is replaced, and that means a trench. We tell you which you have from the video, and price it before anything is dug.
