What this job looks like
in Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks protects its oaks by ordinance, and that matters the moment a drain problem turns out to be a sewer problem: the shortest trench often runs through a root zone you cannot dig in. So we clear the line first, and if it has backed up before we put the camera down and locate the trouble from the surface before anyone prices a repair. In November 2025 one main here was blocked with flushable wipes and another with roots.

Streets and pockets we work in: Lang Ranch, Sunset Hills, North Ranch, the Westlake side of the boulevard, the older tracts off Erbes Road.

01

The drain backs up every few months

Sewer laterals & roots

We put a camera down first so you can see which joint has gone. Depending on what is there it might be jetting, a repair to one section, or replacing the run. Whatever is growing over the line has to be worked around.

The job

How it goes

We clear drains with a cable machine sized to the line. A small machine for sinks, tubs and showers, and a drum machine with a cutting head for the main line out to the street. Where the house has a cleanout we run from there, so nothing goes through your toilet or across your floor. After the line is clear we run water for a while and watch it, because a drain that only half cleared will be back in a month.

Grease is the usual reason for a kitchen line and hair for a tub. The main line is different. Roots find the joints in old clay pipe, cast iron scales up on the inside, and a section can settle into a low spot that holds water. If your main has backed up more than once in a year, cabling it again only resets the clock. We put a camera down the line and show you what is there, and then you decide.

Hydro jetting is water at high pressure through a nozzle that scours the inside of the pipe. It is the right tool for grease, scale and root hair, and the wrong tool for a pipe that is already broken, which is why we camera an older line before we jet it.

Call if

What you notice,
and what it usually is

01

The kitchen sink drains slowly

Grease built up on the pipe wall. Cabled, and if it is years of it, jetted.

02

The tub or shower stands in water

Hair and soap at the trap or just past it. A short job.

03

The toilet gurgles when the washer drains

The main line. Everything shares it, and it is partly blocked.

04

Water comes up in the shower or a floor drain

The main is blocked. Stop running water and call. This is the one to move on today.

05

It backs up every few months

Roots or a broken section. A camera tells you which, and what it will take to stop it.

Work in Thousand Oaks

From the invoice book,
names left off

  • November 2025

A main line blocked with flushable wipes

Snaked the main from several points and pulled out a large quantity of wipes. Another house the same month: roots in the main, cut out with a chain knocker and checked with the camera.

How it goes

Four steps, and you have the price at step three

  1. 01

    You call

Danny picks up when he can, and calls back the same day. Tell him what it is doing and where.

  2. 02

    We look

We come out, find the cause and show you. In plain words, with the part in our hand where there is one.

  3. 03

    You get a price

Before anything starts. Repairs are our time plus parts, and the bigger jobs get a written bid. Nobody here is on commission.

  4. 04

    We do the work

Small repairs are usually done the same visit. Bigger jobs get a start date and a number of days, and we hold to it. Done to code, permitted where it needs it, the house left the way we found it.

Common questions

Drain cleaning in Thousand Oaks: things people ask

How fast can you get to the east side of Thousand Oaks?
Often the same day. It is a ten minute drive. Say what it is doing when you call and Danny will give you a time straight away.
Does the oak tree ordinance affect a sewer repair?
It can. The city protects oaks and the root zone around them, so a trench cannot always take the shortest route. We locate the line from the surface first and plan the dig around the trees before anything is priced.
Should I try a chemical drain cleaner first?
No. On a full blockage it sits in the pipe on top of the clog, and whoever opens the trap next gets it on their hands. It also eats older pipe. Hot water and a plunger are fine to try. After that, call.
Why does my main line keep backing up?
Because clearing it removes the blockage and leaves the cause. Roots grow back, a low spot refills, a crack keeps catching paper. A camera inspection shows which one you have.
Do you do hydro jetting?
Yes, for grease, scale and roots in a pipe that is still sound. On an older line we camera it first, because jetting a broken pipe makes it worse.
