Dan’s job notes
What brought us out.
The homeowner was finding water around the base of the toilet at this Thousand Oaks home. Dave handled this one for us, and the leak turned out to be coming from the connection between the tank and the bowl.
What we did.
A newly installed bidet seat had pushed against the tank, causing the gasket and bolts at that connection to fail. Dave removed the tank and replaced the gasket and bolts, along with the flapper and the nut for the flush handle.
He tested and inspected the toilet afterward and found no leaks. Fixing that connection stopped the water from escaping onto the bathroom floor without replacing the whole toilet.
The total for everything we did on this visit was $350.50.
Finding where the water is actually coming from makes all the difference.
Find where the water starts.
Water at the base of a toilet can come from more than one place. Here it was the tank-to-bowl connection, so that’s what Dave rebuilt.
